About Us

We’re John and Pam Ramsey, owners and operators of Tejon Street Music in Colorado Springs since 1976 (formerly the Colorado Springs Folklore Center).  Tejon Street Music specializes in stringed instruments -- buying, selling, trading, building, and repairing.  We began building ukuleles after a trip to Hawaii several years ago.

About Our Ukuleles

We build our ukuleles in the classic

designs of what we feel was one

of the “golden ages” of ukulele

building during the 1920’s -- 40’s.

Our instruments are made of

beautiful koa wood from Hawaii.

We ensure the  wood is thoroughly

dried before starting the building

process.  The dry climate and low

humidity of southern Colorado

helps prevent problems with crack-

ing and shrinkage of the wood.

We enjoy the process of creating new designs of classic styles using a variety of bindings, rosettes, and inlays to bring a uniqueness to each instrument.  Each ukulele is built with fine craftsmanship and close attention to detail.  All of our ukuleles are branded with the Palm Tree Ukuleles logo on the back of the headstock and now have a signature Palm Tree inlay on the front of the headstock.  We invite you to click on “Ukes for Sale” to see photos and descriptions of our latest Palm Tree Ukuleles.  We also accept limited custom orders.

John has been building mandolins

and guitars for the past 25 years, so

the transition to ukuleles was a

natural step.  After designing and

building our first 14 ukuleles, we

attended the Ukulele Guild of

Hawaii’s Exhibition and Convention

in Honolulu in November, 2005.

We were honored to win

Best of Show” for our Koa Tenor.
